World-Honored One, from now on, and until Iattain bodhi [Buddha’s bodhi, Buddhahood, finalEnlightenment], I uphold the vow that I shall notpermit any thought of violating the precepts.
The Lion’s Roar of Queen Srimala, the single-vehicle great expedience, the corrective and extensive Sutra [Srimaladevi Simhanada Sutra]
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
This “restraining one’s own mind as the precept” is thefirst great right acceptance of Queen Srimala’s tenprecepts of vows, and this is exactly the four-wordphrase “mind-restraint being the precept,” pointed outfrequently by our Practitioners Association. Do not letevil thoughts appear and only until one reaching nothaving any bad thought arising can one claim achieving“mind-restraint being the precept.” Therefore, she hadno thought of violating the precepts, having achieved not only no precept violation through actions of body orspeech but also no transgression through actions of mind any more. This is the first great acceptance, and the mostdifficult one.
